New Study on Teen Drug Abuse Has Surprising Results
A recent study reveals that instead of going to college after graduation, many students will instead be checking into a Boca Raton sober living home.
According to a report released by HealthGrove.com, teen drug abuse continues to run rampant throughout high schools. Regarding teen drug abuse, one survey revealed that, “Nearly 34% percent of high school seniors said they used marijuana in the past year,” making it one of the top drugs that caused high school students to enter into a Boca Raton sober living home.
The study further states that, “by senior year, 70 percent of high schoolers have tried alcohol, 50 percent have tried an illegal drug, 40 percent have smoked a cigarette, and approximately 20 percent will have used a prescription drug for a non-medical purpose.” These statistics have only continued to increase in recent years, and have showed no signs of slowing down.
While the study did provide explanations as to why so many students continue to check into Boca Raton sober living homes, there is a silver lining; out of the 15 drugs named, only one is trending upward, and that is Adderall. Even though teen drug abuse continues to run rampant, there is still some progress regarding getting substance abuse rates among high school students under control.
For those with teens and high schoolers, make sure that you are familiar with the signs that your child may be at risk for teen addiction.
