How to Get Healthy This Summer

This summer, you have a window of opportunity to focus on yourself and to get healthy. After leaving Awakenings for Women, you know that you’re on the path towards a more wholesome lifestyle, so you may as well reach your peak by following a few simple rituals geared towards helping you get healthy this summer.

Get adequate sleep each night. Sleeping enough each night protects you from a multitude of illnesses because it boosts your immune defenses. It lowers your stress levels, it improves your memory, and may even make you live longer.

Avoid processed foods and artificial sweeteners. Additives such as high fructose corn syrup and aspartame are overly processed, loaded with chemicals, and will prevent your body from functioning at its best. Get healthy this summer and cut out processed foods and artificial sweeteners.

Eat colorful, whole foods. The more variety you include in your diet, the healthier you will be. This is because foods of varying natural pigments contain an array of antioxidants and vitamins.

Drink water. Water increases your energy levels and brain function; it flushes your system of toxins, it helps you maintain a healthy weight, and it is one of the best ways to get healthy this summer.

Go outside. Get some fresh air and soak up the vitamin D from the sun. Natural light has been proven to improve one’s mood and happiness levels. Go for a walk, run, or biking, etc. to get your blood flowing.
